BREAKING UPDATE - 11/23/08 - 12:30PST:
TSN is now reporting the Vancouver Canucks will not make an announcement about Luogo's left Groin Injury until after monday's morning skate.
The Vancouver Sun meanwhile, reports it seems to be a "serious groin injury" and it does not look like Luongo will play anytime soon, quoting Luongo himself as saying: "There was pretty much a lot of pain there, right away, I knew it wasn't good."
With The Canucks right up against the 23 player roster limit, a move will have to be made (like adding Luongo to the IR) to make room for any significant roster changes. If Luongo has a tear in his groin, expect the Canucks to make a deal to solidify their Goaltending position despite the presence of future star Cory Schneider backing up now de-facto starting Goalie Curtis Sanford.
UPDATE: TSN is reporting it is an apparent Groin Injury. An MRI is scheduled for Sunday to determine the extent of the injury. The Canucks have recalled G Cory Schneider to back up G Curtis Sanford who is now the starter until further notice.

-----------
Just 5 minutes into Saturday's game vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks' Starting Goalie Roberto Loungo left the game with what appeared to be a left leg injury.
The injury occured as Loungo was readying himself to play a shot from the point. Loungo was at the top of the crease in the butterfly position and as the shot deflected wide, he kicked out with his left leg. Although the shot never made it to him (and no one made any contact with him), Loungo fell to the ice immediately and remained there for a good 5 minutes.
As Loungo lay on the ice he seemed to be favoring his left leg and was helped off the ice by 2 players and trainer. Once off the ice he was seen attempting to put weight on the leg, as he made his way to the locker room.
Backup goalie Curtis Sanford replaced Loungo in net and got the win 3-1, stopping 17 of 18 shots.
FANTASY ANALYSIS:
If Loungo is injured enough to miss significate time, damage control is your first order of business if you are a Loungo fantasy owner. Sanford should provide a decent fill-in option in the short term and if you have roster room don't hesitate to snap him up.
If you don't own Loungo, picking up Sanford also might put the squeeze on any Loungo owner, opening up possible trade opportunities with an owner whose cornerstone goalie just went down.
If he's gone for an extended period, expect the rumors to start that will have Chicago Goalie Nikolai Khabibulin headed west to Vancouver, even though Edmonton's Dwayne Roloson or Mathieu Garon might be cheaper options.
